Adaptation of a short story by Michał Lermontow. Forces stationed in the Caucasus. Lieutenant Wulicz is a fatalist. He believes that everyone has a fate that cannot be avoided. To prove it, he puts a loaded pistol to his temple ... but it doesn't fire. Lieutenant Pechorin listens doubtfully to his colleague's arguments. Accompanied by a premonition, Wulicz will die soon.
