Overview: From an early age, children are fascinated by doors and windows, mainly because their curiosity is aroused. When a door or window is opened, the beginning of a new place or area is created; inside or outside, upstairs or downstairs, and the child is able to explore and find out more about a familiar environment, or one that is totally new. This week, through doors and windows we see new situations e.g. a hospital kitchen, life in a block of flats, people who pass by a window. We make a simple, large, cardboard house and open it to reveal familiar rooms. Each day we sing the song "In and out the Windows". |
