Overview: Shawn Durrant, an eighteen-year-old obtained a winter job as a ski-lift operator, and he was trained how to operate lifts safely and correctly. One night, a six-year-old girl slipped from her chair and was dangling by one arm from the grasp of her frightened mother. Shawn stopped the lift, and began climbing a pole, then hauling himself hand-over-hand along the cable until he reached the chair. He was then able to help the mother pull her daughter to safety.
