Hanim Zakaria (born 11 September 1950) is an Indonesian teacher. He was born in Bengkalis, Central Sumatra, as the six child and youngest daughter of the seven children of Zakaria bin Muhammad Amin, an ulama, and Mariah binti Ahmad, a homemaker. Zakaria has three brothers, Nashruddin, a civil servant, Azra'ie, a lecturer, and Syakrani Zakaria, a harbormaster, and three sisters, Aminah, a teacher, Zaharah, a politician, and Ulfah, a gynecologist. She also has three half-brothers, Zulkarnain and Nukman, both were civil servant, and Gamal Abdul Nasir Zakaria, a lecturer, and four half-sisters, Rinie Yuslina Fairuz and Rita Puspa, both were civil servant, Nida Suryani, a science teacher, and Sri Purnama Zakaria, an English teacher, from his father second marriage to Siti Zainab binti Kimpal. Zakaria is married to Mokhtar in 1982 and has had two daughters, Tirta Mahdalena Mokhtar and Desy Ananda. She started her career by working as a junior school teacher in Pekanbaru. |
